Kália are two counseling centers in the cities of Senec and Trnava for women and their children experiencing domestic violence. Counseling centers represent a safe space for solving violence in partner relationships.

The professional staff consists of a team of social workers and psychologists who provide support, assistance and specialized counseling services to women and their children experiencing domestic violence.

Which consulting services do we provide?

Specialized social counseling

Basic social counseling – Basic social counseling is specific in that it is factual, targeted and comprehensive. Women experiencing domestic violence and their children have the right to ensure the availability of information in an understandable form about the type, place, goals and method of providing social services. In our counseling center Kália, we provide clients with a perfect overview of the relevant legislation, institutional options for solving their situation, we try to understand their uncertainty, pain, fear, humiliation that they experience, whether due to their own fault or for some other reasons that they could not or were not able to influence themselves.

Specialized social counseling

As part of specialized consulting, we solve personal problems of clients that have a negative impact on their proper functioning in the society. By negative impact, we usually understand psychosomatic problems that arise mainly from the cause of domestic violence. When eliminating this cause, our experts use therapeutic approaches. It is a combination of behavioral, humanistic and psychodynamic approaches.

Psychological counseling

As part of specialized consulting, we solve personal problems of clients that have a negative impact on their proper functioning in the society. Security management

As part of psychological counseling, we help clients and their children process the trauma they experienced and try to strengthen them in restoring their self-worth and self-esteem. We strengthen the ability of female clients to lead an independent life without violence. At the same time, as part of psychological counseling, we help with processing the consequences that violence has left on women and their children.

Crisis intervention

The primary goal and at the same time the basic standard of providing comprehensive support and protection to women experiencing domestic violence and their children is safety. It is an immediate intervention during or after a crisis to minimize the risks to the woman and child. It is a supportive network of measures aimed at stabilisation, restoring a sense of security and strengthening coping strategies. The expert team of the Kália counseling center together with the client and the children create safe plans based on a comprehensive risk assessment.

Support services for children (psychological care and special pedagogical care)

Within the counseling center, legal assistance is provided free of charge to women experiencing violence. The first contact with the legal firm (attorney) is ensured by the adviser of the center. If necessary, an external law firm represented by an authorized lawyer can represent the woman in specific court proceedings All information that the woman provides to the law firm is subject to the principle of confidentiality of information.

Support services for children (psychological care and special-educational care)

In the counseling center Kália, we offer psychological care for a child who has become a victim of domestic violence. However, the presence of violence in the home, which does not directly affect the child, has a significant impact on his experience and psychological development Often times, children who witness violence or are victims of violence blame themselves for it. Meetings with a psychologist take place naturally in the form of games, when the child gets space to talk about bad experiences, fears and traumas. They gain a sense of understanding. At the same time, we offer special pedagogical care for children who, as a result of the trauma of violence, have delayed cognitive development of speech or problems with concentration and memory or problematic behavior.

All services provided within the counseling centers are in accordance with the European standards of the Council of Europe.
